Anna Schlechter is a Photographer and Visual Artist. She was born in Cologne, Germany in 1997, where she grew up. In 2022 she graduated from The School of Photography (Ljósmyndaskólinn). Currently, she is doing her Masters in Photography at HDK – Valand in Gothenburg, Sweden.
In her work she combines aspects of performance, conceptual art and self portraiture with photography in order to create her images. Thereby she draws inspiration from artists such as Marina Abramovic, Sophie Calle and Werner Herzog.
While Photography is the main medium of her work, she experiments with video and uses mixed media techniques to create her images.
Besides Photography she explores language as a form of artistic expression. She writes prose and poetry and her texts have been published in various magazines and anthologies, e. g. the Icelandic Journal Ós Pressan.
