Statues II.

Throughout Gothenburg you can find a lot of public statues often depicting a human form. Thereby I observed a difference between the portrayals of men and women. The statues of men often show a specific human being and are erected to remember and honour the person and his deeds. In contrast to that the statues of women are frequently nude and represent a general idea (for example “The Spring”) or an old Greek or Roman mythological figure rather than a specific person.

In Statues II. I engage with three different female statues, that can be found in the centre of Gothenburg. I am interested in the exchange between my body and theirs. How does the viewers perception of them change when I actively interact with them as if they were human?
